Little Miss Sunshine

3 Aug

The other day I was flipping through the channels and noticed the movie, Little Miss Sunshine was on.  It was the  end of the movie, the very best part.  Little Miss Sunshine reminds us so much of my niece, Sophia.  She’s spunky and silly just like Little Miss Sunshine.

This morning as I walked into work, the garbage man was making so much noise lifting the dumpster in his truck.  I thought of Sophia who has hated loud noises since before she could talk.

Later today, I recieved a picture of Little Miss Sophia.  Her auntie took her to Jamba Juice.  She plugged her ears when the blenders were turned on.  Too loud.  Here she is sipping her Jamba Juice, wearing pink hair extensions she won at Chuckie Cheese.

Nuddle

3 Dec

Here’s a great gift idea for your family member or friend who has it all.  The Nuddle blankets are like the popular Snuggies, but far easier on the eye and oh, so soft.  I bought one for Kat Daddy last Christmas and we both love it!  Our friends even like to use it when they come over.  The Nuddle brand has recently added a smaller version for kids and I noticed that come December 15, there will be one for babies.  How’s that for family fun!?

Do You Have One of These Too?

4 Sep

Do you have a person in your home that leaves it’s shoes on the floor in the middle of the dining room? It’s a miracle that I have not lost a toe or an ankle tripping over these monsters.

Do you have a person in your home that drinks 10 bottles of water a day and fails to put the empty bottles in the recycling bin?

A Baby and a Puppy

30 Jul

Wanna know what happens when you let a two year old play with a three week old puppy?

The two year old will put the puppy in her Barbie jeep.

Photobucket

Two year olds have not yet mastered the skill of driving, even if it’s just a Barbie jeep.

Photobucket

Oops! They’ve hit a wall!!

Photobucket

The puppy was just fine and only suffered emotional stress from too much love from a two year old.

Cupcakealicious

30 Jul

I think I made up a new word. ANNNNNDDDDD Great news! My cupcakes from this post turned out a-okay!

First I mixed the ingredients.

Then I liked the beaters clean (see next picture).

I wasn’t 100% thrilled with what the cupcake papers looked like once they were baked. Oh well! At least their contents tasted good.

And most importantly, the birthday girl was happy with her birthday treat.

Happy Birthday, Brooke!

Piggy Bank

22 Jan

Three weeks ago I told myself I’d buckle down and start saving some major cash for life’s events and unexpected events. Ya know, like a wedding, or in case I loose my job or if my car breaks down or the house floods. Normal life events like that require more money than the combination of my ashtray in the car full of mostly pennies and the shoe box collecting Kat Daddy’s loose change. I suppose if it’s Kat Daddy’s loose change than technically it’s not my savings. Darn.

Anyway, I’m having a hard time getting serious. I visited Sephora yesterday and NEEDED this.

Photobucket

And wanted this.

Then I remembered Kat Daddy needed some of this.

Then I went to All Posters (www.allposters.com), and found this. I just had to get this for my parents for the upcoming anniversary. Too bad my mom reads this blog and won’t be surprised when her anniversary rolls around.

Photobucket

I’ll start saving my coins tomorrow. I promise.

Predominantly Feminine

13 Aug

All girl, that’s my niece. She’s been sporting bangles that are 10 times too big, for months now. She’ll put them on her arm and bend her elbow to keep her body ornaments from slipping off her tiny wrist and hand. She wrangles paper bags, tote bags full of books and has even used a paint can full of paint to clutch in her hand or on her shoulder like a fancy handbag. Oh and the shoes! This is one baby that likes to wear shoes. She was given a pair of orange, glittery sandals just after she turned one. She’d pick them up and try to put them on her feet. This past weekend, we gave the baby a makeover. We combed her scraggly, wispy hair into a pony tail and swept her fringe bangs to the side and secured them with a barrette. We wrapped an adult, leather belt around her waist and she was loving all of it. Then she stepped out on the balcony of her aunt’s bedroom, picked up a paint can like it was Louis Vuitton luggage and was ready for a helicopter to come pick her up and take her to a far away castle.

JOSE CAN YOU SEEEEEEEEE…..

3 Jul

…by the dawn’s early light. What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming.

Oh, shux! Sorry, didn’t see ya there. That was just me singing our national anthem.

Now that I have your attention, I want you to know that the Fourth of July is one of my most favorite holidays. Why? Why? Well because of all this of course!

The third of July street dance, fourth of July parade, the after party at the park, swimming, hot dogs, soda, chips, and FIREWORKS!

However, I’m camping this year, away from the street dance, parade, and park. But they’ll be plenty of swimming! A whole freakin’ lake to swim as a matter of fact. And the hot dogs…there are 312 hot dogs in my cooler. I’m having my own hot dog eating contest. Soda and chips will be present in bulk as well. And the FIREWORKS! The FIREWORKS! Those are going to be shot off the dam of the lake! Yippee! I can’t wait! Is it the Fourth of July yet?

Sister, Sister, Sister, Sister

9 Jun

If you didn’t all ready know this about me, I have four sisters. People comment about how much fun it must be to have all sisters. People also ask if we shared clothes. People also instantly feel sorry for my dad since he’s lived with 6 women for so long. Truth is it was and still is so much fun having all sisters. Some of us would share clothes, but not me. I have anal retentive issues and like my clothes to not have stains or tears in them. My clothes were off limits. And my dad, I know he LOVES having all girls. I’m pretty sure he really enjoyed when we’d brush his hair and put bows and barrettes in it.

I cannot tell you how many Barbie’s we had. Our living room would be transformed into a one story Barbie mansion. I remember telling my younger sister when I was in junior high (oh God, this is so embarrassing), to not let me play Barbie’s with her anymore. I loved Barbie’s that much…

To this day I cannot go into a store in my little town without someone mistaking me for one of my sisters or asking me “are you so and so’s sister?” I’m never ashamed to admit I’m their sister. I adore that we are so much alike, yet so different. It’s what makes us who we are and contributes to the synergy we feel when we are all together. We have a crazy bond that I don’t think many would understand. You’d have to see us in action, gathered around a table to understand our sisterly connection.
