Bacon and the IRS

31 Dec

Today I had a late start all because of a very sad, tragic movie I watched last night.  I woke up paralyzed and depressed.  All of my serotonin had been emptied.  Finally, after 3o minutes of moping I sprang out of bed, turned on the radio to an upbeat song and put on my workout clothes in hopes of rejuvenating my depleted serotonin levels at the gym.

A trip to the gym and a stop at Starbucks later, I made Kat Daddy and I waffles, eggs and bacon.  The house still smells like fried bacon ewwww.

I convinced myself to shower and write one last blog in 2009.

Later I’m going to get a manicure and have them massage my neck.  I might need a foot massage too because I just remembered I owe the IRS money from 2008.  YIKES!

Oh yeah, that very sad movie I watched was called Dear Zachary: a letter to a son about his father.

Wishing you all a very safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

xoxo,

Rizzle

Here’s to a new year

30 Dec

I can’t believe 2009 is over!  One thing is apparent, as I get older, time goes by faster.

For 2010 I’m looking forward to many milestones, some which I know will take place (i.e. my wedding) and looking forward to any surprises that may come along the way too.

Guaranteed events in 2010:

  1. Finish my wedding planning
  2. Best friend getting married – wedding date TBD (she’ll beat me to the alter for sure)
  3. Wedding in September
  4. Kat Daddy turning 30 in December

Hopes and wishes for 2010

  1. A new car
  2. Career advancement
  3. A raise

What are your plans for 2010?  Any resolutions?

xoxo,

Rizzle

Ugly Holiday Sweater

17 Dec

As I strolled in the break room this morning to fill up my mug, a bright golden- rod color caught my eye. It was a pair of corduroy pants. No need for coffee today, those pants just woke me up.

I couldn’t help but notice the hunter green and navy sweater that was almost as wrong as the bottom half. I think the red dickey really helped pull the whole outfit together.

Perhaps these corduroy owner’s holiday party had applied the popular “Ugly Holiday Sweater” theme and this gentleman was taking it to the next level with his ugly holiday corduroys? Funny thing is his surrounding colleagues apparently never got the memo. They were all dressed to fashion police code.

The Name Says It All

10 Dec

The other night I went shopping and spent way too much money.  Nothing really new about that statement.  Anyway, I purchased a small tube of Aveda’s hand lotion called Hand Relief.  It’s seriously amazing.  The cold winter weather makes my hands so chapped and dry.  Hand Relief soaks in quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky or oily residue after applying.  This is my #1 gripe about most hand moisturizers I’ve purchased in the past. I noticed that I don’t have to re-apply every time I wash my hands too.  The formula sinks in and really lasts.  An additional perk is the delicious fresh, citrus aroma.  You’ll want to lick it.  Not really, but you’ll want to take a big whiff.

Nuddle

3 Dec

Here’s a great gift idea for your family member or friend who has it all.  The Nuddle blankets are like the popular Snuggies, but far easier on the eye and oh, so soft.  I bought one for Kat Daddy last Christmas and we both love it!  Our friends even like to use it when they come over.  The Nuddle brand has recently added a smaller version for kids and I noticed that come December 15, there will be one for babies.  How’s that for family fun!?

It’s December and in other news…

1 Dec

Oh my gosh! It’s December!!  Time for Christmas decorating, shopping, and baking.

My dear friend noticed that I switched from Blogger to WordPress and it occurred to me that any of my friends who had me in their Google Reader no longer would receive my updates.   If this is you, update my link.  I miss you.

XOXO,

Rizzle

Gift Giving Guide: For the Snow Bunny

1 Dec

Dear Little Sister,

If I had unlimited fundage I would purchase you a set of these chairs for your patio in the mountains near the ski (or in your case snowboarding) slopes.

Merry Christmas,

Pecan Pie Take Two

1 Dec

Last year, I tried to make a couple of pecan pies to try and impress my in-laws for Thanksgiving.   They weren’t impressed – not impressed at all.  Because I cheated.  I stopped on the way to Thanksgiving and bought a very pricey pecan pie from a restaurant that was open for truck drivers passing by.

This year is a new year.  I saw a cute lady, Marjorie, on Martha Stewart last week.  Did you see that episode too?  She won Martha’s pie contest.  I watched Marjorie and Martha intently as they whipped up an English Toffee Pecan Pie.  The lesson worked.  It worked!  I created a pecan pie that isn’t runny like diarrhea!

What did you make this year for Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving!
