Piggy Bank

22 Jan

Three weeks ago I told myself I’d buckle down and start saving some major cash for life’s events and unexpected events. Ya know, like a wedding, or in case I loose my job or if my car breaks down or the house floods. Normal life events like that require more money than the combination of my ashtray in the car full of mostly pennies and the shoe box collecting Kat Daddy’s loose change. I suppose if it’s Kat Daddy’s loose change than technically it’s not my savings. Darn.

Anyway, I’m having a hard time getting serious. I visited Sephora yesterday and NEEDED this.

And wanted this.

Then I remembered Kat Daddy needed some of this.

Then I went to All Posters (www.allposters.com), and found this. I just had to get this for my parents for the upcoming anniversary. Too bad my mom reads this blog and won’t be surprised when her anniversary rolls around.

I’ll start saving my coins tomorrow. I promise.

Mother of the Bride

15 Jan

Do bride’s pick out what their mother’s wear to their wedding? Not that I don’t trust my mom’s fashion sense, but she did send me an email with this dress.

Of course she was completely kidding. Not that the outfit is totally hideous or anything. I just think eyes will be drawn to the swirly looking hat. If she even tried to wear that Kentucky Derby get up to my big day, she’d take a seat in the kitchen with the caters. Wow. I sound like a Bridezilla!

By the way, if you’ll be attending a costume party and are interested in the outfit above, you can find it here.

What’s the Date?

14 Jan

Right next to the question, “How did he propose?” was the question, “When is the wedding?”. After thumbing through a calender and running a few numbers, we’ve concluded that our wedding will be in the Fall of 2010. That’s right folks, 2010. One year and eight months away. I have a few reasons why for this date.

The first being, Kat Daddy and I will be splitting the cost of our wedding. I guess you can say I forgot to save for it. So I need some time to sock away a few dollars. Second, we have decided that we will spend some time in Europe for our Honeymoon. I’ve read the best time of year to visit there is in September. So naturally we’ll plan the wedding around or just before September. Lastly, I’d like some time to enjoy being engaged.

Until then I’ll be perusing wedding blogs, trying on wedding dresses and hunting down the perfect wedding stationary.

Rizzle on Wedding Planning

12 Jan

Happy New Year!

Where do I begin? Wedding planning sucks. How’s that? I think I need Ambien to help me sleep because falling asleep at night has been overcome by visions of bridal veils and wedding cakes. Even after I do fall asleep I’m awoken by night terrors in the form of budgets and guests lists.

I bought one bridal magazine that was pretty and all, but it makes a better coaster than anything else.

I have a wedding planning book that my mom graciously gave me as Christmas gift. I’ve thumbed through it a million times, but it makes me dizzy every time.

My sister and I have planned a dozen different hypothetical weddings, one wedding to take place at a swanky hotel in Palm Springs. Another in an old barn closer to home; and a different one in Sin City. I’ve been voting for Las Vegas all along.

Guess what I just learned. There is a committee out there with ideas about how my wedding should go. The LGKARM “Lets Get Kat Daddy and Rizzle Married” committee. What? Huh? Isn’t this my wedding?

Accepting positive vibes and supportive remarks now until the wedding is over. Thanks.
