Feeling Creative

6 Nov

As we all gear up for the Holidays, now is an excellent opportunity to think about ways to make gifts to perhaps save money and share something made by you. Listed below are ideas that sprung into my mind. I also recommend visiting Martha Stewart’s website for ideas or even perusing your local fabric or craft store for ideas.

Baked goods are often a good one since most enjoy sweets. Cookies are an excellent choice along with candy or how about a gingerbread house.

Cute Fire

4 Nov

At the mall the other day, I stopped by Pottery Barn to pick up a Thanksgiving hostess gift. I was completely inspired when I saw these adorable match boxes. There were several different styles, but I choose the bees to accompany an autumn, smelling pillar candle. I checked the website and the matches are not available online.

I hope your Pottery Barn carries these matches too!

Super Easy Dinner

3 Nov

I thought I’d share a super easy recipe I made the other day.

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 12 oz cans diced tomatos
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beens
1 can corn kernals
2 tbs chili powder
salt and pepper to taste

1. Put the meat, onion and garlic in a skillet and cook until meat is browned.

2. Put all incredients, including the meat in a large pot or slow cooker. Cover and simmer on low for two to three hours.

3. Bust out some corn bread and dinner is served!

Christmas

2 Nov

Often I like to analyze things. For example, today as I wiggled my way through traffic to the mall, I was hoping the parking lot would be empty and the lines in the stores would be short. WRONG! I scratched my head and wondered if this so called recession has ended. Shouldn’t these herds of people be at home clipping coupons and wearing their clothing and shoes from last season? Then I thought about it more…what was I doing at the mall? Had my shopping habits changed from last year. Uhhhh, not really. Perhaps everyone else were only buying deeply discounted items like I was. And maybe all the people in back of me at Victorias Secret had a coupon for a free pair of underwear too. Then again who said you couldn’t go to the mall to window shop. I’m sure there was plenty of that going on too.

National Blogging Month?

1 Nov

Has anyone else heard of National Blogging Month? Or perhaps it’s International Blogging Month. Anyhow, my kind mother called me Saturday night and informed me of this dedicated month. I was getting ready for a Halloween party and of course didn’t have time to blog. So I’ve cheated and set the post date to November 1. I’ll do the same for November 2 since I spent the day doing other things rather than blog.

So it’s on! You can expect a post ever day from here on out, from me, this month.
