So this post is all about me, as most of these are. But I really, really need your help. Remember that job I interviewed for, but they offered it to my co-worker who happened to apply for the same job I did? Well, she turned it down and what do you know, a day later they offered me the job. THEN remember how I told you the company that acquired my current company wasn’t going to offer any HR people a job? Well, I was offered a job.
I’m so torn. I have two really great opportunities at my fingertips, but am having a hard time deciding which will be the best fit. Can you help? Take a look at the descriptions I’ve described below for Company A and Company B. Then no matter who you are, leave me a comment with which job either you would take or the one you think I should take and if you feel up to it give me the reason(s) why. Don’t forget, you can even leave a comment as an anonymous person.
Company A: 1,000 person company with 800 people in India and 200 in the U.S. I would only do HR for those in the U.S.
Position: HR Generalist
I would be the only HR person. Some of the duties include, meeting with the engineers quarterly and taking them to lunch. Assisting in company events. Benefits, staffing, hires, terminations.
Company B:: 74,674 worldwide. I would support a set of client groups within the company (for example all the employees who are in marketing).
Position: HR Representative
Duties include, assisting and responding to HR policy and procedural inquiries from employees and managers. Process transactions such as bonuses, new hire info, terminations, etc. Compile HR statistical data and prepare reports as needed.
This companies benefits are better than Company A.
In summary, Company A is a small, baby company. Company B is a huge, worldwide company. Company A, I would be the only HR person. Company B, I would be one among many.
Any advice you can offer is appreciated.
Thanks!
